Last month (Aug 2014), the government in the US signed off on the Autism CARES Act, which allocated $1.5 billion dollars to Autism Research, Educations, helping families and aiding those on the spectrum with jobs. What does "CARES" stand for? - Autism Collaboration, Accountability, Research, Education and Support Act
I could not be prouder that even with a split government like there is, they could still come together and see the epidemic that is affecting the population. Just a couple of years ago, in the US it was estimated that 1 in 88 kids were diagnosed with Autism. Now it's at 1 in 68 children in the US. In New Jersey (highest), it's 1 in 42 and in Utah it's estimated at 1 in 47.
So many children and adults are affected by this and this Act will help a lot of people and will aid in the research of this disorder. Making it easier for child, adults and families that live with it. My hope is that this influx of money and resources from the government will help with finding a cure for Autism.
